Black Panther with Night In Wakanda Pre-show
THE FILM:
PG-13 | 2h 17min.
Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
THE PERFORMANCE:
The Wine Suite will preview elements of their "Night in Wakanda" food and wine festival taking place Sep. 30 - Oct. 4 in various locations across Denver, including McNichols Civic Center Building. This preview will include an African American hair and fashion show that highlights tribes featured in the film and honors the 2020 passing of the CROWN Act in Colorado. The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” prohibits race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots.
There will also be a special performance by Cleo Parker Robinson Dance.
If you're interested in learning more about the "Night in Wakanda" festival, which brings together award-winning wineries and celebrates African and Black culture through the world of Wakanda, visit linktr.ee/thewinemistress.
