Don’t miss an exclusive opportunity to hear a rare choral gem – Felix Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang – which uses vocal soloists and Psalm texts in an exultant hymn of praise. This masterpiece, from the composer who reintroduced the world to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, is at once steeped in the glory of church music and oozes with Mendelssohn’s signature Romantic voice. It all comes to life in the hands of conductor Rune Bergmann, whose towering persona and effervescent smile are already becoming familiar to Denver audiences.
On the first half, soloist Paul Huang delights in Mozart’s fourth concerto for violin. Sometimes known as the “Military” Concerto, it earned its nickname not for its stylish Rondo and singing Adagio but because of its quirky march-like opening, which only adds to the music’s irresistible charm.
