Immigration Reform: An Evening with Charles Kamasaki

Charles Kamasaki represented the National Council of la Raza on Capitol Hill when Congress debated and passed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, enabling three million people to adjust their immigration status and lawfully remain in the U.S.

Join us for a conversation with Charles about his groundbreaking new book on the history and politics of immigration reform as we consider lessons and prospects for more rational and humane immigration laws in the future. Charles will be interviewed by policy scholar Mike Cortés, Executive Director of CLLARO, followed by questions and comments from the audience. Please join us afterward for appetizers and refreshments and opportunities to meet the author.

Mr. Kamasaki is Senior Cabinet Advisor at UnidosUS (formerly known as the National Council of la Raza) in Washington, DC, and Resident Fellow at the Migration Policy Institute headquartered in Washington and Brussels. Dr. Cortés is Scholar in Residence at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work.
